Rev. Canon John E. Mikalajunas, Pastor

Father John E. Mikalajunas

Holy Trinity Parish is honored to have as its Pastor, Father John E. Mikalajunas, a wonderful priest who provides excellent spiritual care for all in the parish community. Father John was ordained in May of 1969 in Syracuse. A native of Johnson City, Father completed elementary school at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Binghamton, graduated from Johnson City High School, received his B.A. from St. Mary's College in Orchard Lake, Michigan and his M. Div. from Ss. Cyril & Methodius Seminary, also in Orchard Lake, MI. Holy Trinity is his first assignment in Utica. From 1984-2009, Father was a Pastor in Binghamton at the parishes of St. Joseph, St. Stanislaus, St John the Evangelist and St. Vincent De Paul.

Father John had the privilege of concelebrating Mass with Pope John Paul II in his private chapel in 1997, 1998 and 2000. In 2003, Father concelebrated in St. Peter's Square with the Pope on the occasion of his 25th anniversary in the Papacy, as well as speaking with the Pope in St. Peter's Square on October 15, 2003.

In January 2005, Father was at the second to the last public audience with the Pope before he took ill and died on April 5, 2005. Father has led and been on pilgrimage fourteen times to Rome, eleven times to Poland, seven times to the Holy Land, and three times to the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany and plans another trip in Fall 2010. Father has prayed at shrines of the Blessed Mother in Guadalupe, Mexico, Betania Venezuela, Lourdes, Paris, Czestochowa Poland, Knock Ireland, Fatima, Spain, Banneaux Belgium, Switzerland, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Austria, Siluva & Vilnius, Lithuania, Moscow, and the Island of Patmos.

Father John provides thought provoking and inspiring sermons at Holy Trinity. The mission of Father Mikalajunas is to always lead people to Jesus through the Blessed Virgin Mary.
